“I truly don’t know how Taylor Jenkins Reid manages to write across such a wide variety of subjects while improving her storytelling at every turn. This book about space and love is impossible to sum up in few words. Everything about Joan’s life and perspective was so stunning and articulated so perfectly. The characters were complex, smart, funny and challenging. I cried for so many of them and felt so much joy and hope from their stories. I learned a lot about space and space travel, felt every spectrum of emotion, and sat on the edge of my seat through every timeline. I loved this and I think everyone who reads it will love it just as much as I did. A masterpiece. ”

“A totally immersive story, this is both historical fiction and a love story that captures NASA's shuttle program in the 80’s as women for the first time are accepted as candidates to become astronauts. Well researched, it's a thrilling, fast-paced story that was very hard to stop listening to.”

“Getting into star-gazing? Thinking about those astronauts up on the Space Station? Looking for an engrossing summer read with a beautiful romance, a nail-biting space walk, and likeable characters? Step back to the 1980s with Joan as she and others become some of the first female NASA astronauts. I loved this novel about the lengthy path to becoming an astronaut, finding love in unexpected places, and the urge to fly among the stars. ”

“Something about reading a period piece from when you were in college that is a little sobering, but this book just rocks. Set against the backdrop of NASA finally allowing women into the astronaut corps during the Space Shuttle program, Reid delivers characters who are compelling - flawed in many ways, but you root for them just the same. The pacing is perfect - brisk without being rushed, enough detail to deliver the story but not so much that it ever gets bogged down. Of the three of her books I have read, this one is the cleanest narrative - direct, complete, nothing wasted. Couldn't put it down. ”
